Report on implementation of the ECMC response to the Community Engagement Review
Publication date
In May 2026, the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) received the final report on progress against the 2024 Community Engagement Review recommendations.
The report confirms that phase one is complete. It also shows governments have made good progress on the agreed actions. Governments will need to keep working together to address ongoing community and industry concerns about social licence.
To support this work, ECMC set up the Community Engagement Working Group. The group will identify new issues, share best practice, and help governments respond in a timely and coordinated way. It will also lead work on community engagement to help keep Australians informed and supported as new energy infrastructure is built, including in regional, remote and First Nations communities.
