Australian electricity generation - fuel mix calendar year 2025

Percentages for states and territories. NSW includes Australian Capital Territory
A stacked column chart showing percentages of generation by fuel type for each state and territory. Coal is the largest share in NSW, VIC and QLD, and is just under half of generation in Australia as a whole. Natural gas is the majority of generation in WA and NT and one quarter in SA. Oil is largest in NT but still only about 10 per cent. Hydro is the majority of generation in TAS. Other renewables is roughly three-quarters of generation in SA.
The figure shows Australian electricity generation fuel mix shares by state and territory. The time period is calendar year 2025. Electricity generation fuel mix varies across states and territories.
