Household energy upgrade loans now available

Australian households can now access discounted green finance for energy upgrades through the Australian Government's $1 billion Household Energy Upgrades Fund.

The Upgrades Fund is being delivered by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), in partnership with co-financiers, including banks and non-bank lenders. Minister Bowen and Assistant Minister McAllister announced the first deal with Plenti on Friday 31 May, with loans available from Plenti on 5 June.

Under the Fund, participating financial institutions will offer discounted home loans, personal loans and other innovative financing solutions for home owners to help reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. These include a range of upgrades such as rooftop solar, batteries and other energy efficiency improvements.

The Fund targets existing homes, many of which were not subject to modern energy efficiency building standards at the time they were built. It will help homeowners unlock a range of upgrades to help reduce their energy consumption and make their home more comfortable and healthier to live in.

The Household Energy Upgrades Fund aims to benefit over 110,000 households through the discounted loans.
