Overview

The ActewAGL Heating and cooling upgrade program provides rebates of up to $5000 to Australian Capital Territory residents to upgrade old inefficient appliances to new energy-efficient appliances.

Benefits

Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning. Upgrade your ducted gas heating system to a ducted reverse cycle air conditioning and save $2000 off the purchase and installation costs, and a 2 year rebate off your ActewAGL electricity account of up to $3000.

Reverse cycle air conditioning. Upgrade your flued gas heater to an energy-efficient reverse cycle air conditioner and save $2000 off the purchase price, or $2500 if you hold an eligible concession card.

Hot water heat pump. Upgrade your hot water heater to an energy-efficient Stiebel Eltron hot water heat pump and save up to $750 off the purchase price, or $1200 if you hold an eligible concession card. Additional financial assistance may be available under the Australian Government Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).

Key eligibility

The rebates are only available to Australian Capital Territory residents where the home is not undergoing development or refurbishment under an existing development approval under the ACT Planning and Development Act 2007.

Eligible concession cards are listed on the ActewAGL website.

Residents that don’t hold an eligible concession card but are experiencing financial hardship and referred by a specified community organisation, or are accessing an energy retailer’s hardship program, may be eligible for a concession rebate.
