How much you can get
If your small business is in the ACT, you can get $325 in bill relief for your small business from 1 July 2023 if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Your business will also benefit from lower electricity charges due to the ACT’s large-scale feed-in tariff scheme. This scheme can reduce electricity charges by around $624 for a business with average electricity use.
Who can get it
You can get the bill relief if your small business:
- is based in the ACT
- is on a separately metered business tariff with your electricity retailer
- has an annual electricity consumption below the threshold of 100 MWh.
Eligibility for small businesses will be determined based on their eligibility for the relief as at 1 July 2023. Small businesses that become eligible after this date will not be able to the access the relief. Applications for the bill relief will close on 30 September 2024. Small businesses will not be able to apply for the bill relief after this date.
Who can’t get it
You are not eligible for the small business relief if:
- you run your small business using electricity from your home
- your annual electricity consumption is above the small business threshold of 100 MWh
- your small business is in an embedded network.
When you will get it
If you are eligible, your electricity provider will automatically apply the bill relief to your electricity account from 1 July 2023, reducing the amount you owe on your next bill. You do not need to do anything. This will be provided as a one-off amount of $325.
