Overview

Power$mart Homes is a free energy and water efficiency program to help low income Tasmanian households save money on their power and water bills as well as stay warm in winter by providing upgrades that may include:

  • light emitting diodes (LED) light bulbs
  • a water and energy-efficient showerhead
  • a plug-in heater thermostat control
  • an EcoSwitch power controller
  • hot water cylinder pipe insulation
  • draught sealing
  • free expert energy efficiency advice, including an assessment of your home's energy efficiency and a tailored power savings plan

Key eligibility

To be eligible for Power$mart Homes, you must:

  • live in a property (that you own or rent) that is not managed by Housing Tasmania
  • hold a:
    • Centrelink Health Care Card, or
    • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, or
    • Department of Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Repatriation Health Card (Gold or White)
  • not have participated in either of these Tasmanian Government energy efficiency programs:
    • Power Savings for Tenants, or
    • Stay Warm Save Money Housewarming Program.

You will need to present your concession card to the Power$mart Homes Energy Efficiency Assessor, before they can carry out the energy efficiency assessment.
