North–South gas pipeline pre-feasibility study

The Australian Government commissioned the North–South gas pipeline pre-feasibility study to examine the case for an additional pipeline connection from the Northern Territory to the east coast. The study concluded that an additional pipeline would be unable to deliver competitive transmission costs until the Northern Territory can produce and ship at least 70 to 110 petajoules of gas a year to the east coast. Furthermore, at this scale of production, the North–South pipeline is but one of several viable infrastructure alternatives.
