Publisher

Australian Government

Date

The Australian Government is undertaking a review of the CBD program to assess its effectiveness and consider the case to expand the program to other high energy-using classes of buildings, such as shopping centres, data centres, hotels and office tenancies.

An independent consultant will conduct the review which will involve national stakeholder consultations. The terms of reference for the review outlines the purpose and scope of the review.

A 2015 review of the CBD program found the program had delivered a reduction in end-use energy consumption of 10,020TJ, abatement of 2 million tonnes of greenhouse gases and has delivered $15 million in benefits ($44 million if you include GHG reductions) between 2010 and 2014.
