Prohibiting Energy Market Misconduct

The Australian Government has introduced the Treasury Laws Amendment (Prohibiting Energy Market Misconduct) Bill 2019 into parliament.

The legislation provides the framework for the government to strengthen its ability to address misconduct in the electricity market. Creating new prohibitions against certain misconduct in electricity retail, wholesale and contract markets, which is detrimental to competition or consumers.
