Price safety net

1 July 2019

The Default Market Offer (DMO) came into effect on 1 July. It will effectively serve as a price cap (to protect those on standing offers) and a reference bill (to improve transparency in the market by requiring all retailers to advertise their offers in comparison to that benchmark price). See the Price safety net page for more information.

A separate Victorian Default Offer (VDO) has been introduced in Victoria.
