New energy measures to assist businesses, communities and householders

The Australian Government has announced a round of measures to assist businesses, communities and householders to improve their energy-efficiency and reduce power bills.

Energy Efficient Communities Program

The Energy Efficient Communities Program will deliver $50 million of grants to assist businesses and community organisations improve practices and technologies and to better manage their energy consumption.

Energy rating labels on space heating appliances

The Australian Government will invest $6.5 million to commence the process to introduce an energy rating label to space heating appliances. This measure will deliver up to 15 million tonnes in emissions reductions to 2030.

Improving the energy and emissions performance of buildings

The Australian Government is delivering an additional $10.5 million in 2019–20 to improve the energy efficiency of Australian buildings.

The funding includes $3.4 million to improve the energy efficiency of both new and existing homes, and $7.1 million to improve the energy efficiency of commercial buildings.
