Grants open for diesel exhaust fluid security

The Australian Government has announced the opening of the Maintaining Our Supply of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (MOSDEF) competitive grant program.

The program is part of the government's comprehensive $49.5 million package over 4 years, from 2022 to 2026, to enhance the resilience of Australia’s diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) market.

DEF is critical to the operation of trucking and other modern diesel vehicles. It lowers noxious emissions which are harmful to human health and the environment.

The program aims to encourage Australian industry to produce DEF from means other than imported technical grade urea (TGU) the main component of DEF.

The program will provide up to $16.5 million over 2023 to mid-2026. Up to 50% of eligible project costs will be funded.

Applications are open until 28 February 2023, and can be accessed through business.gov.au/MOSDEF.
