Grant funding to support industry to reduce emissions
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has announced the launch of $43 million in grants under the Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program.
The funding will be provided in 2 streams to support feasibility and engineering studies. Outcomes will help facilitate uptake and integration of renewable energy and efficiency in key industries.
Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen said the funding will help identify opportunities to reduce emissions in energy-intensive sectors.
‘The ARENA grants will help industrial emitters to find innovative ways to cut their energy demand, adopt renewable energy, save on their energy bills, and help Australia meet its emissions reduction targets,’ the Minister said.
Funding will be made available to organisations in the agriculture, mining, manufacturing, gas supply, water supply, waste services and data centre sectors.
These sectors are the largest users of energy in Australia, with around half of industrial energy used to produce heat for industrial and other processes.
Grants will be available for between $100,000 and $500,000 for feasibility studies and $250,000 and $5 million for engineering studies.
