Expanding smart technology solutions for energy users

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) is expanding smart technology solutions for energy users across Australia.

A $50 million CEFC loan commitment will support Intellihub – Australia’s largest provider of smart metering devices – to ramp up the deployment of smart devices that optimise energy efficiency and grid reliability.

The devices include:

  • smart meters
  • smart behind the meter (BTM) devices.

Smart meters help energy users measure, manage and dispatch energy from sources such as:

  • solar panels
  • home batteries
  • electric vehicle chargers.

Smart BTM devices offer energy users the ability to tap into lower-cost electricity tariffs and reduce peak demand on the energy grid.

By leveraging smart meters and BTM devices, Australians can harness renewable energy more effectively, reducing their costs and environmental footprint.

The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) has made a draft rule to accelerate the deployment of smart meters to energy customers and target universal uptake by 2030.
