CSIRO launches virtual Hydrogen Knowledge Centre
CSIRO has established an online hub consolidating Australian hydrogen research and industry activities.
The Hydrogen Knowledge Centre will fast-track collaboration among the Australian hydrogen industry, government, and research and development agencies. It will be the go-to resource for information on policies, projects and research.
CSIRO Chief Executive Dr Larry Marshall said Australia is well-placed to use hydrogen to generate massive GDP growth. This will be achieved through long-term jobs, exports and domestic use, while helping drive down emissions.
‘CSIRO began research into hydrogen fuel to help catalyse a new industry in Australia that would fill the economic gap being created by the transition away from fossil fuels,’ Dr Marshall said.
Through the Hydrogen Knowledge Centre, users can access interactive modelling tools forecasting hydrogen prices. Three modules will assist with education and research: HyLearning, HyResource and HyResearch.
An interactive map highlights 85 hydrogen projects across Australia. Data can be filtered by project proponents, end-use and development status.
According to Australian Government estimates, hydrogen production for export and domestic use could generate more than $50 billion in additional GDP by 2050.
