Consultations open for the energy consumer data right

The consumer data right (CDR) will allow consumers to authorise the sharing of their data with an accredited service provider, such as a comparison site, to access tailored, competitive services.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commision (ACCC) has been given the lead role in rule-making, consumer education and enforcement.

The CDR for energy will commence in the first half of 2020, after it is first introduced in the banking sector.

The ACCC seeks feedback on proposed models for consumers to access their data in the energy market.

Your views will help form the preferred data access model for the application of the CDR in energy.

See the ACCC website for more information on the energy CDR and to make a submission.
