AER and ACCC compliance bulletin on communicating pricing changes

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) have combined to publish a compliance bulletin to remind retailers of their obligations around communicating pricing changes to their customers.

Given current high prices, it’s essential that energy consumers are given clear and accurate information on price changes to inform their decisions. Retailers should also be aware of their obligations to consumers wanting to go on a standing offer in response to a price change.

The AER and the ACCC work together to closely monitor the retail electricity market and enforce consumer protection requirements. The AER and ACCC may take enforcement action against retailers who fail to comply with their obligations.
