Australian energy production - fuel type

Australian energy production, by fuel type
The figure shows Australian energy production by fuel type in petajoules from 1976-77 to 2016-17. Domestic production of primary energy increased by 4 per cent in 2016–17, to reach 17,957 petajoules. This is consistent with the trend in energy production over the past decade. Coal accounted for more than two-thirds of Australia’s energy production in 2016–17, followed by natural gas.
